Date Nut Bars
Goes great with coffee!
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 5 tablespoons zwieback crumbs
- 9 dates, sliced
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- 3 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preheat oven to 350°. Combine the first five ingredients, then fold dry mixture into the stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into greased 8" square pan and bake for 30 minutes. Allow to cool, cut as desired, and serve spinkled with powdered sugar.
